Professor Zhang Kan from Nanjing University of Science and Technology was invited to give an academic report

On June 5, 2024, Professor Zhang Kan of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, invited by the State Key Laboratory of Materials Chemical Engineering, held an academic report entitled "Research on Optoelectronic Catalysis at the solid-liquid interface of Semiconductors" in the conference room on the third floor of Hongyi Building. Chaired by Professor Wang Jun, the presentation attracted the participation of teachers and students in related research fields.

Professor Zhang Kan focuses on the regulation of electrode materials related to photoelectrochemical transformation, the design of reaction systems and the exploration of application scenarios of photochemical reactions. In the report, he focused on the BiVO4 semiconductor photoanode, and explained the methods to improve the water oxidation reaction rate through Mi scattering, P/N heterojunction, defect engineering and other means. In addition, he also introduced catalytic systems such as photochemical alcohol small molecule dehydrogenation and organic pollutant mineralization, and summarized the content of the report.

Professor Zhang Kan's vivid report and unique insights have greatly inspired the teachers and students present, so that they have a deeper understanding of the semiconductor solid-liquid interface homogeneous reaction process. The participants responded warmly to the academic report and the event was a complete success.

 

Personal Profile:

Zhang Kan, professor and doctoral supervisor of Nanjing University of Science and Technology, has won the National Outstanding Youth Fund (Cross), Jiangsu Province Distinguished Professor, Outstanding Youth Fund and other talent projects. He received his PhD from Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea in 2015, and was a postdoctoral researcher at Yonsei University, South Korea from 2015 to 2017. Long-term focus on photoelectrochemical transformation related electrode material regulation and reaction system design, photoelectric chemical reaction application scenario exploration. As the first/corresponding author in Sci.Adv., Nat.Commun., J.Am.Chem.Soc. He has published more than 50 papers in academic journals, cited papers more than 8,000 times, H-factor is 49, and 8 papers were selected as ESI highly cited papers. He is currently the young editorial board member of Green Energy and Environment, Ecoenergy and other journals, and the young director of China Photographic Society.
